“I’m here to make you an offer.”
That smile doesn’t ring true on Jack’s lips, but it’s more of an effort than anyone else has made for him. It’s why he’s got Sam and Bobby and Jo all locked up downstairs, until they see the light.
At least Jack is trying.
Dean laughs, sudden and genuine amusement.
“Wanna make a deal with the devil, Jack?”

❝ —Yeah, maybe. ❞
He’s silent for a good few seconds, running a hand through his hair, messing it idly. And, then—in a sudden moment of striking responsibility, ❝ You can, like—put it on my tab. Sorry. ❞

It’s okay, Jack will come around. Just like Sam will too. He’s just got to be patient with his family. (They were soft touches. All it does is drive home why Dean had to be the one to do this. To protect them.)
“The one and only.”

While it is completely possible that Jack missed one of those, it’s not chronologically possible to have missed all of them. But Tony isn’t above milking it for sympathy.
“…——————I did?”

Gaze dips to follow his own fingers as they trace the lines of engraving on the compass held loose in Jack’s hand. Smile tucks itself at corner of mouth, and when he glances back up through his lashes, it’s knowing.
“Dived for it. Off the Amalfi Coast.”
Questing fingers had pried it from its resting place in the clear depths – the same fingers which had cleaned it, later, on the sun-drenched shore; the same fingers which had fixed it up, replaced the parts that needed replacing.
“It was that or a two-for-one on navy rum.”
Dived for it, he says. Yes, of course he did.
It’s perhaps one of the many things he loves about Hephaestion. How at ease he is at sea, not in love with the tide and the storms as Jack is, perhaps, but equally comfortable with braving those waves.
